The Division of Water Pollution Control develops and implements programs to prevent or clean up the pollution of surgace and ground water in Massachusetts. The biology section creates files to administer water quality standards and biomonitoring programs, which provide the most reliable measure to the Commonwatlth's attainment of state and federal goals realting to water use and quality (MGLA c 21 ss 26-53; PL 92-500 (Federal Water Pollution Control Act) 303(c), as amended).
